Tulsa has your bases covered 12 months out of the year
You won’t have far to look to find a sport you’ll love being a part of, whether a player or a fan.
Tulsa offers something for every professional and college sports fan. The Tulsa Drillers professional baseball team draws hundreds of thousands to Drillers Stadium each year, and beginning April 2010, the Drillers will play in a new stadium located in the heart of downtown Tulsa.
Sports are taking on a new meaning for Tulsans with the recent addition of the BOK Center, a major venue attracting events and team competitions from around the country. The Tulsa Shock WNBA team, the Tulsa Oilers hockey team, Tulsa Talons arena football team, and the Tulsa 66ers, an NBA development basketball team, all play at the BOK Center.
The University of Tulsa and Oral Roberts University also offer the best of competitive sports on the collegiate level. Throughout the year, the city hosts numerous regional and national amateur tournaments in several sporting categories including baseball, basketball, softball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics and bowling.
Sports also come on four legs in Tulsa, with many national and international horse exhibitions, shows and rodeos filling the calendar at the state-of-the-art Expo Square. There is also quarter horse racing at Tulsa’s Fair Meadows track.
Those who enjoy racing of the four-tire variety have the Tulsa Raceway Park and Hallett Motor Racing Circuit. In addition, major car shows call the city home in various venues throughout the year.
Two wheels compete here too when the American Bicycle Association Grand Nationals ride into the QuikTrip Center at Expo Square. And Tulsa is home to the exciting, growing Tulsa Tough, a three-day cycling festival designed to promote fitness and family fun while showcasing Tulsa’s beautiful city. The event offers professional-level racing, recreational rides, tour rides, activities for kids, live music and vendors.
Tulsa is also home to many amateur and collegiate sporting events brought to Tulsa through the Tulsa Sports Commission.
